This year, an incredible 11 members of the Trinity community have been awarded 2026 U of T Student Leadership Awards (UTSLA) – 10 ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´ students and one ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´ alum (current graduate student)! The recognize graduating students for outstanding student leadership, volunteer service, and commitment to the university broadly, to their own division, or for contributions in both areas. Shaffaan Bin Aamir: Shaffaan is proudest of his contributions as a residence leader. Supporting students was extremely fulfilling for him, and many have shared that his steady presence and inclusive programming shaped their sense of belonging throughout their years at U of T
Caroline Ho: Caroline is most proud of her work with Musical Minds Community Outreach, where she have taught violin to three elementary school students. “It was rewarding to see my efforts have a tangible impact on young musicians who developed a love for music.”
Mesai James: Mesai, President of the Black Students’ Association, has dedicated countless hours to uplifting the Black campus community through events, dialogue, and impactful programming.
Hongzip Kim*: Hongzip is recognized for his leadership in the Statistical Sciences Union, ASIP and ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´, building bridges between students, faculty and industry to strengthen community and
academic engagement at the University of Toronto.
Linda Liu: Linda has been volunteering with the academic peer advisor program since her second year where she organizes academic events aimed to support students’ academic success and connect students with resources offered by the university.
Eugene Seo: Eugene’s most proud contribution was representing ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´ as a Student Gonfalonier for Melanie Woodin’s Installation Ceremony at Convocation Hall. He was proud to represent his college in such a historical event.
Bowen Zhao: Bowen revived a nearly defunct cultural club into a vibrant, recognized community that enriches ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´â€™s diversity by sharing Chinese traditional culture with students from all backgrounds.

The University of Toronto Student Leadership Award continues U of T’s long-standing tradition of recognizing outstanding student leadership, volunteer service, and commitment to the university. This tradition began with the Gordon Cressy Student Leadership Award, which ran from 1994 – 2019 and was named in honour of , former Vice-President, Development and University Relations. In naming the award, the (UTAA) recognized Cressy’s leadership and volunteer service across various spheres, as well as his term at the university. During the award’s 25-year history, it celebrated the exemplary contributions of more than 4,000 students whose commitment and volunteerism had a lasting impact on their peers and the university.
