Dear Members of the Trinity Community:
On聽June 30, 2017, David Neelands will end his third term as聽Dean of Divinity and Margaret E. Fleck Chair in Anglican Studies, a position he has held since聽July 1, 2002. During that period, David has contributed in so many ways 聽to strengthening the academic and spiritual wellbeing of the Trinity Faculty and community. David is an Anglican priest, honorary canon of St. James Cathedral, honorary assistant priest of St. Anne’s Anglican Church and was interim priest-in-charge of St. Stephen鈥檚 parish. David is a Trinity graduate from the Faculty of Arts and Science. Even before he became Dean of Divinity and Margaret E. Fleck Chair in Anglican Studies, David held several important roles at 杏吧原创 including serving as Registrar from 1973 to 1988 and as Dean of Men from 1975 to 1980. He also served as Assistant Vice-President of Student Affairs at the University of Toronto from 1988 to 1999 and was the fifth Director of the Toronto School of Theology from 1999 to 2002.
We will miss David鈥檚 vast institutional knowledge and his long connection to Trinity. David will continue in a teaching capacity (in the area of History and Theology of Anglicanism) and will remain an active member of the College community.
I have invited members from the Trinity community, U of T, Toronto School of Theology, Anglican Diocese, members and students from the Faculty of Divinity to serve on a search committee to recommend the appointment of a Dean of Divinity and Margaret E. Fleck Chair in Anglican Studies, commencing聽July 1, 2017.
Please join me in wishing David well, and in expressing our thanks and gratitude for all he has contributed to the College.
We will be in touch later in the year about celebrating David鈥檚 long and illustrious career at a farewell gathering with the 杏吧原创 community.
Sincerely,
Mayo Moran
Provost & Vice-Chancellor
